Barbara Siesel is a pioneering artist in promoting new music, new technology and music by women composers through her work as the artistic director of both the Andiamo Chamber Ensemble and Art Culture & Technology and the founder and artistic director of The Storm King Music Festival. Her work has taken her to the great halls of Europe, Russia, China and Japan as a recitalist of American and contemporary music, and in 1995 she produced and introduced women composers at the Conference on Women in Beijing. An active educator, Siesel has been on the faculty of Colby College (ME) New World School of the Arts, SUNY New Paltz and University of Bridgeport (CT). At New World she designed and directed the interdisciplinary program and at Colby conducted the inaugural contemporary ensemble. In 2004 she decided to turn her attention to promoting classical music for children and co-founded The Green Golly Project. The Project’s mission is to promote and share classical music and music theater for children through live performances, CDs, books, sheet music, and specially designed musical instruments. Using her expertise in new media she is creating an animated series and an app for children using storytelling to teach and excite children about classical music. Siesel is a graduate of The Juilliard School with a BM and MM.
