On the evening of January 29, 2013 the Key to the City was presented to Dr. Harvey by Councillor Reeves on the occasion of JazzBoston’s 7th annual members event held at Ryles Jazz Club.

The Cambridge City Council declared Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Mark Sumner Harvey Day in the City of Cambridge.”

The venerable Ryles Jazz Club was jam packed Tuesday night with notable Boston-Cambridge jazz musician, impresarios, all of Boston’s jazz radio personalities, and other such community luminaries. All  gathered by the advocacy group JazzBoston to honor Mark Harvey. Moving words and soulful sounds paid tribute to his “44-year’s of contributions to Boston-area jazz,” as one speaker put it. “When something important happens in our jazz community, Mark Harvey is usually involved in it. He is a musical citizen of the highest plateau.”

Congratulations Rev. Mark Sumner Harvey!
