Wed | 5 | A reading of Harbison’s opera libretto and selected songs of The Great Gatsby by faculty and students as part of It’s Alive, a play reading series directed by  by Anna Kohler, Senior Lecturer in Theater Arts. The Great Gatsby is an opera in two acts composed by MIT Institute Professor John Harbison. The libretto, also by Harbison, was adapted from the novel  by F. Scott Fitzgerald.  The opera was commissioned by  The MET in honor of music director James Levine’s  25th anniversary with the company. 7pm, Killian Hall.  Free.

Fri | 7 | MIT Concert Choir.  William Cutter, Music Director; Alice Parker, guest artist/conductor.  Music of Alice Parker.  Alicer Parker’s long association with the legendary choral conductor Robert Shaw produced an impressive catalogue of original compositions and folk song arrangements. 8pm, Kresge Auditorium.  Admission:  Free in advance; $5 at the door.
